Music & Arts students have also been asked to collaborate with Nutkhut to help fulfil their vision of the Dr Blighty project. The Dr Blighty project is a multisensory project based around the use of the Royal Pavilion as a hospital during the First World War. Throughout the week there will be light projections, theatrical interludes and readings from letters sent home from the soldiers recuperating at the Pavilion. One of the most striking soldier’s letters that Nutkhut came across, talked of the longing a solider had to play his flute and to be comforted by its sound. The students will be working with an Indian flute specialist and composer to create a flute work for a group of young people to perform at various points during Friday 27 May in the Pavilion Gardens. Inspired by the sounds of India this will be a modern interpretation of the sounds this soldier longed for.
