Artsmark Award

Schools in Brighton and Hove have an incredible reputation for creativity and the relaunched Artsmark award is a great opportunity to demonstrate and recognise this in your setting. Awarded by Arts Council England, designed by schools to make it relevant and straightforward, the new Artsmark award helps schools to deliver a high quality arts and cultural education.

The next Brighton Development Day is on Friday 15th July 2016. (10.30am for an 11am start until 3.00pm)

Benefits to Schools

  • Access to exceptional resources as well as networks of the country’s most treasured cultural organisations, helping you to develop and strengthen your arts provision.

  • Evidence of how you are meeting your social, moral, cultural and spiritual requirements for OFSTED.

  • Endorses and highlights a school’s high quality arts and cultural offer.

Benefits to Students

  • Builds confidence, resilience and drive that will help children to grow into happy, articulate, successful young people.

  • Arts and culture unlock potential by helping children and young people to develop character, talent, knowledge and understanding.

  • Gives every child the opportunity to create, compose and perform, and to visit, experience and participate in extraordinary work.

Artsmark is a priority for the Our Future City programme, a partnership between children, young people and professionals from education, health, social services, local businesses, the creative industries and culture to find ways to transform our city in the next 10 years. They’re developing a way of working that will address inequality and lack of opportunity in a systematic way. It will happen within cultural education, but most importantly also beyond it.

The standard Artsmark package costs £500 (unless you are a small school with less than 100 pupils, which attracts a 50% discount). However, as part of Our Future City, a limited a number of Artsmark bursaries are available to schools in the city. Please contact Emma Collins at BHMA for further details.
