Sunday 26 June saw the latest concert in encore’s new House Music Classics series with the String Ensemble playing in front of an invited audience. The event was hosted by Louise and Jamie Arnell in their home in Brunswick Square, one of only three houses in the Square not turned into apartments.
The performance included Valse-Caprice’s Opus 76 for piano and strings from 1886, known affectionately as the 'Wedding Cake’ and featured Phillip Leslie on piano who is a finalist in this year’s Jacques Samuels piano competition, and has played with the BYO on tour.
The afternoon recital was attended by 40 guests including encore Concerto and Overture members and was supported by a donation from The Pebble Trust which, along with other donations received on the day, helped raise over £2,000.
