Wishing Well Music in Healthcare

The Rhythmix, Wishing Well Music in Healthcare programme brings music making directly to hospital bedsides, creating meaningful interactions to improve the wellbeing of children, young people and older people with dementia in hospital. We support well-being in healthcare by creating environments that make people feel safe and by encouraging a healthcare culture that helps staff interact with the person, as well as treating the health condition. We support the whole community around the patient, including families, caregivers and staff in interactions and aim to improve the overall soundscape of hospital wards. Working in partnership with NHS Trusts, our programme includes weekly music making sessions at The Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital in Brighton as well as children wards, hospices and clinical rehabilitation settings across the county. We and have a thriving programme reaching people with dementia in hospitals wards and assessments units across Sussex and we are currently involved in a research programme with Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust to assess the impact of our work.
