Spring is always a busy season for us at Music & Arts and this year is no exception. This year we will see Brighton & Hove Music & Arts ensembles performing a wide variety of repertoire in a different setting throughout the Festival.
We were very excited to once again perform with the Children’s Parade with members of our Brass Ensemble to begin the Festival on Sat 5 May. This year’s musical theme was ‘Euro Pop’ so timeless classics accompanied the parade as children from schools and community groups proudly presented their master pieces based on famous paintings!
Later in the day young musicians performed live music at several perfect “Pitches” throughout the Royal Pavilion Estate and further afield across the city. These pitches saw fantastic performances from Brighton & Hove Youth Big Band to flute duets to intimate singer songwriter performances at the Dome Café Bar. This year saw the String Quartet, members of BYO, performed high above on the i360 pod.
As the Festival continues, Sun 13 May sees BYO joining forces with a number of very special guests for their concert at All Saints’ Church in Hove.

A new collaboration for us this year is our participation in the wonderfully successful “Your Place” weekends in East Brighton and Hangleton. This year sees another exciting programme of free theatre, dance, music, outdoor games and workshops, and activities for people of all ages.
Spread over 19 & 20 and 26 & 27 May, o360, Brighton & Hove Youth Percussion Ensemble and Brighton & Hove Brass Ensemble will be performing and leading workshop sessions; a great and free way to be involved in music and potentially spark that desire to learn an instrument!
