Take Part: Helping Young People Achieve Arts Awards

Many students work towards an Arts Award through their school or other organisations, but may be unaware of how their involvement in instrumental/vocal tuition, Music Centre or even attending concerts can help them to achieve their Award.

Building on successful work to promote the Arts Award last year and supported with investment from Artswork, the South East Bridge organisation, SoundCity has become a ‘phase 2’ Arts Award Development Hub.

As part of a network of Arts Award Development Hubs across the region, SoundCity will be supporting Artswork to achieve their target of a 30% increase in the take up of Arts Award at all levels. We will be working in partnership across the arts and cultural sector to increase awareness of how children and young people can achieve an Arts Award, by improving sign-posting, badging potential Arts Award-accredited activities and offering new opportunities for children and young people to work towards gaining an Arts Award.

Brighton & Hove Music & Arts will be running a new ‘Discover the Arts’ course in 2015 inviting children in years 4 to 6 to take part in music, dance and creative digital sessions as they work towards achieving their ‘Discover’  Arts Award over one weekend.  To register interest, email holly.griffiths@brighton-hove.gov.uk
