The Burton family raise over £600 for encore

Over 30 people gathered at the house of Dave and Rowena Burton on 12 September for the second concert in our House Music Classics series raising over £600 towards encore’s fundraising campaign.

Members of the String Ensemble, led by clarinet soloist Camille Burton took responsibility for devising the programme which included a range of music from jazz to Mozart and the performances were conducted by Andy Sherwood. The evening was supported by The Pebble Trust.

Here are just a few of the many positive comments the Burton’s received after the event

So much incredible musical talent and in such a delightful setting’

‘We felt very privileged to see it and had a fantastic evening’

With the additional income raised by the Burtons, House Music Classics has now raised over £8,200 for encore and is on course to reach the 2015 target of £10,000.

Peter Chivers, Head of Music & Arts commented ‘It is wonderful to see parents of existing BYO members work so hard to raise money to support future generations of young musicians and to see today’s orchestra members getting involved in fundraising in such a positive way.’

The funds will be used to support the Hardship Fund which ensures that no young musician is prevented from taking part due to financial circumstances, purchase new instruments for the BYO and other music ensembles and help fund educational programmes.
