Varndean School hosts Music Centre & Concert
Music Centre moves to Varndean School
Violin and Cello Christmas Concert for young players
Brighton & Hove Music & Arts’ first Music Centre session of the year took place on Saturday 12 September at Varndean School. What a great welcome the students and teachers received from Varndean colleagues as they settled into their new place! The corridors were buzzing with young musicians and their parents/carers, new and existing members all excited to be either attending for the first time or returning after their summer break to a new venue.
Sessions included choirs for all age groups (year 2 – year 13), String ensembles for all standards pre grade 3, Woodwind, and Brass Ensembles, Children’s Music Workshops and Wind Bands. There is also a café throughout the morning run by the Parents and Friends Association where parents can relax and wait for their children. All the money raised by the great team of coffee shop volunteers is spent on providing equipment and instruments for use with BHMA ensembles.
The new venue is an ideal host for the Saturday morning activities including the main hall with its beautiful grand piano, the light and airy library and all the classrooms in between.
VIOLIN AND CELLO CHRISTMAS CONCERT FOR YOUNG PLAYERS
Those students in their first few terms of learning (year 2/3 for violin and year 2/3/4 for cello) and their parents/carers are invited to attend a specially arranged Christmas Concert, in which they will play some great Christmas tunes together.
It is hoped to involve as many pupils as possible at the event which is taking place on Saturday 12 December 2015 at Varndean School between 1.00pm and 3.00pm. There is no charge for this event - please confirm your child’s attendance by emailing Holly Griffiths holly.griffiths@brighton-hove.gov.uk by 20 November.
As well as the strings concert, we hope to see parents and friends at our usual end of term concerts half way through each hour on 12th December (9.30, 10.30 and 11.45).
