BBC announces major project for primary schools
BHMA will be a champion for the new BBC initiative called Ten Pieces, aiming to inspire a generation of children to get creative with classical music. To be launched in the Autumn with special screenings.
The Ten Pieces include well known works such as Beethoven’s 5th Symphony as well as less well known pieces such as a new commission for body percussion by Anna Meredith. There will be a series of cinema screenings in October where the Ten Pieces will be introduced and set to exciting film footage. Children will be encouraged to respond creatively to the music contained within the pieces through a variety of arts forms including musical composition, dance or visual art.
If you are a primary school music co-ordinator, contact Mike Johnson on how we can help your primary school engage with Ten Pieces.
