Social Singing – A new music group for adults aged 60+
Brighton & Hove Music & Arts recently started ‘Social Singing’, a new weekly singing group for adults aged 60 and over.
‘Social Singing’ helps people to experience the joy and happiness that can be found by singing with others. Led by experienced vocal tutor Flo Sparham, this friendly and relaxed singing group meets on a weekly basis at our Music Centre.
Supported by a grant from the Brighton & Hove Clinical Commissioning Group, it is free to take part in ‘Social Singing’ sessions. The sessions work on a drop-in basis and members are invited to bring a friend, family member or carer if they wish.
There is no audition, no requirement to read music and no pressure to perform in public (unless the singers would like to). The group is focused on promoting good emotional health and wellbeing through the positive experience of communal singing and is ideal for older people in the local community who simply enjoy music and/or who may sometimes feel lonely or isolated and would like to meet others with an interest in music.
Sessions take place every Tuesday during term time from 10am – 12 noon, at Brighton & Hove Music & Arts, County Oak Avenue, Brighton, BN1 8DJ and new members are always welcome.
If you have any questions please email Holly Griffiths or telephone 01273 293524.
