Celebrities Back Alumni

Laura van der Heijden, Sir John Tomlinson and Richard Durrant are just some of the celebrities backing encore - the new alumni network for the Brighton Youth Orchestra with an initial call out for photographs and archive material.

Opera singer Sir John Tomlinson CBE,

BBC Young Musician of the Year 2012

Laura van der Heijden, and concert

guitarist Richard Durrant are just

some of the celebrity backers for

encore – the new network for ex

members and supporters of the

Brighton Youth Orchestra, announced

on 8 October.

Gavin Henderson CBE, previously Director of Brighton Festival, ex Council Chief Executive, Glynn Jones and Sir John Tavener’s widow Maryanna Tavener have also signed up as ambassadors.

Over 200 photographs, videos, programmes and posters from the orchestra’s star studded past have already been uploaded on to the encore website and it is hoped to significantly expand this with your help.

We are asking former members to send in any photographs, videos or other archive material relating to the BYO – anything from old photo in the attic or an old score from a nerve-racking concert. We are also looking for help to identify players and catalogue the existing archive.
