BHMA Concert roundup

Bishop Hannington was the venue for two recent end of year concerts: 23 June, Saturday String Orchestra and BHJYO – the SSO played some accomplished and well- rehearsed tunes from Oliver and Pirates and BHJYO wowed the audience with 3 movements from a Haydn Symphony and a Lord of the Rings selection.

27 June saw BHYP, BHYPE and both the Junior and Youth Choirs perform. There were some lovely solos from Maxim (Viola) and Ayla (Violin) with BHYP accompanying.  The Percussion Ensemble “Diners Club” went down a storm (below) and the choirs sang their usual diverse range of repertoire. The audience were asked to join in with the final piece, the appropriately named “Bring me Sunshine” made famous by Morcambe and Wise.

BHYCB finished their year in style when they invited parents and friends to join them for an informal performance as part of their final rehearsal on Thursday 25 June. They played a great variety of music including crowd pleaser marches and show song medleys – a great way to spend an hour!

Richard Durrant chose to perform with our BYO String Ensemble for his final concert of his cycling tour on Sunday 28 June. They performed twice, a late afternoon open air concert on New Road and an evening concert just behind in the Unitarian Church. The audience was very appreciative, one of whom described the performances as “sublime”.
